Luke didn't have to work on the Friday before Memorial Day, so we went over to Fort Worth to check out the Stock Yards.
Can you see how flushed we all are? It was a hot day, but not nearly as hot as all last summer. We're hopeful that it won't get that bad again this year. Or ever.
There were lots of restaurants, and we had lunch at one of the steak houses. Since we didn't feel like gigantic steaks at 2 p.m. we opted for burgers, and they were huge and delicious.
There were also a bunch of fun little shops selling candy, cowboy art, clothes, spicy stuff, etc. Here we are seeing how good Liam looks in a head dress.
And a horse! Which Liam was clearly not impressed by.
And a train! Which might be a little cooler than the horse?
We didn't plan it, but we managed to be there in time to see the cattle drive! Here we are waiting for the fun to begin.
Longhorns!
We give the Fort Worth Stock Yards two thumbs up! We wish we'd know how much we were going to like it, because we would have planned to go after Luke's parents came to town. (They got here the next day.) We're definitely going to take them the next time they come to town.

Oh, so cool! We are moving to San Antonio at some point, hopefully a year from now, for my husbands masters. I know Liam isn't into the horsey's and train yet, but my kids would LOVE this! We will for sure have to make a trip up to Fort Worth for the stock yards. Thanks for sharing.
Be sure to eat at Riscky's Barbeque. It was just to your left as you were looking at Luke while he took the picture of you and Liam waiting for the cattle drive.
