The New Year's Post

Last December / January I was so ready for 2010 to be over and to get a fresh start in 2011.  We had a lot to look forward to in 2011 and, among other things, I planned to cry less and puke less that I had in 2010.  Though I'm sure I've done just as much crying, I don't feel nearly as much animosity towards 2011 as I remember feeling towards 2010.  It must have been all of that puking.

2012 looks to be a much less eventful year for the Mott family than 2011.  We're looking forward Luke getting more settled at his job, continuing to rent our place in Carrollton, going on a couple of family trips, and savoring every moment as our baby turns into a toddler.  (He'll be old enough to go into the nursery at church before 2012 is over.)  A quiet year for self-improvement is just what we need here at the Mott house.

For 2012, rather than choosing individual words for the year (like we started doing here), Luke and I have chosen a word to work on as a couple.  We plan to continue selecting a joint word and making our yearly theme a family affair as children start to grow up.

Our 2012 word of the year is PRAY.  We both feel the need to work on our prayer relationship with Heavenly Father, and we look forward to improving our connection to Him as we focus on becoming more prayerful this year.

We have other family and individual goals as well, but maybe we'll share those in another post.  For now, I'm realizing that I don't know much about your new year goal setting habits.  Are you resolution people or not so much?  Tell me about your big plans for the new year.

You're the best! Guess what? I made my 7th graders pick a theme word for the new year in class! You inspired me :) I have a word too! Thanks for your example!
